Boxes

Susanne Haag Keramiek Dozen

Two boxes with lid, with cube and triangle motif, diam. 20 cm After the electric kiln (900°C) I draw with pencil a division on the vertical side of the box and continue the line to the center of the lid. These lines are the basis to draw the motif. For the triangle motif: I use the compass to draw the distances from the bottom to the next horizontal line, so that it results (for the eye) in a square. Subsequently I draw one diagonal line and so the triangles appear. One half of the square is filled with white glaze, the other half blackens in the process of firing raku. For the cube motif I start at the cutting line between body and lid and use the compass to draw the distances needed for the motif towards the bottom of the box and the center of the lid. Subsequently one diamond is filled with glaze, another one with lines and the third one blackens in the process of firing raku.
